As a young adult, it would have never crossed my mind that I would one day decide to take part in the fitness genre known as CrossFit. Dancing was all that I was exposed to during my high school years and it was the only strenuous activity I enjoyed.  Like many others growing up, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking part in athletics was not something that was pushed by my parents.  Although they meant well for me particularly in other aspects of my life, it was not a focal point, which I wish wasn't so.

From the moment I walk through the doors of the CrossFit gym, one thing that was stressed was how making that first step to merely show up was huge!  I definitely had a desire to be physically better and better I became, plus more.  CrossFit has genuinely changed my life in more ways than one.  The obvious changes are physical; however being fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle gave me purpose, confidence, and allowed me to grow into a well-rounded person.  To many there is a belief that bodybuilding, strength, and overall athleticism is meant and geared towards men, however I was encouraged regardless of my gender and never judged. I was pushed like everyone else to the point a person realizes they had more in them than they thought.

A big part of this growth and encouragement came from my coach, Isaac, who i would like to personally thank.  Many people don’t realize how much of an impact they can have on others and his mentorship and guidance played a key role in my overall growth.  It was and still is very much appreciated!  Staying motivated and accountable to my schedule is also something I want to thank my CrossFit family for.  I am who I am today, physically and mentally, because of it.
